Word and character counter – with and without spaces, and bytes, all at once (a must for cover letters)
When you write a cover letter, conditions like "within 1,000 characters including spaces" or "500 bytes or less" are easy to worry about. Every site counts differently, and many people have to rush to cut text right before submitting because it went over the limit.
EasyCVT Word Counter is a free tool that shows counts under several standards at once, just by pasting your text.
What you can check at once
- Characters including spaces
- Characters excluding spaces
- Word count
- Line count
- Bytes (UTF-8): one Korean character = 3 bytes
- Bytes (Korean as 2 bytes, EUC-KR): one Korean character = 2 bytes
Emoji and special characters are counted as one character.
Why are there two byte standards?
Because institutions and systems count bytes differently. Some count Korean characters as 2 bytes and others as 3. Since both figures are shown, you can pick the value that matches the standard of where you are submitting.
How to use
- Type in the input box, or paste text you copied.
- All figures update in real time as you type.
- Compare with the limit where you are submitting and adjust the length.
- To check another text, press "Clear text".
Use it when writing these
- Cover letters, resumes and school applications
- Checking the length of blog posts
- Checking the length of social media posts and text messages
- Paper abstracts and contest submissions
Is my text saved?
The text you enter is processed only in your browser and is stated not to be sent to a server or stored. You can write even personal text such as a cover letter with peace of mind.
